Well, I like to think that every day around my house is Earth Day. But I celebrated the day by doing something a little extra. I tried to conserve some energy by turning off my heat, opening the windows, and I did not use any lights all day (as long as the sun was shining). I also didn't turn on the TV. What did you do? Cool giveaway! Today I cloth diapered my daughter, which we do pretty much every day, but I love helping the environment & my daughter's bum by doing this!

I finally made my reusable grocery sacks out of old cotton cloths my grandmother gave me. I have four now to use, in my car and ready to go. When I forget though, I use the plastic bags for bathroom garbage and the brown paper bags for painting on, so I will recycle those, istead of buying plastic garbage liners. I think even little steps help.

ReplyDeleteThat's great that you re-use bags and made your own. Etsy seller remarket makes produce bags that are reusable! I bought a set and love them!
I did similar things. I kept most (if not all lights off until just an hour ago). Kept the heat down and Committed to stop using plastic water and drink bottles! Yay for the Earth!!!!
ReplyDeleteToday I turned most of the lights off at work, recycled alot of paper in the office, and shopped locally :) I also took my doggy to PetSmart for the Pet Birthday Party!-- a joint party with all the dogs in town is a great way to save energy and materials :)

Hi Mandy, you'll be glad to hear how I started off the new year and have continued to do so...I am recycling all paper boxes big & small! Cereal boxes, cracker boxes, fruit snack boxes...all of these and more can be flattened and tossed into the reycling with the newspapers and large cardboard boxes. I do it and I feel good about it!
